The Great thing about Back Tattoos
Whether you're looking to cover your tattoo completely or put it on exhibit next time you visit the
beach on a hot summer day (or on your next vacation which ever comes first) there is absolutely no better place for
a tattoo than your back. When you go to work you can cover your back tattoos without ever having to give any
thought to being inconspicuous as it's as simple as putting on your shirt or blouse for the office and forgetting
your tattoo is even there. Then when it's time for an evening out on the town you can show it off again if you like
by wearing your open back dress.
Some interesting facts about lower back tattoos are that about 20% of women tend to get lower back
tattoos now a days and in the past, warlords would have special tattoo designs put on their backs in order for
their armies to identify them in battle and follow their lead.
Consider Size and Placement
There are so many different options when you're thinking about getting a back tattoo. You can get a
full back tattoo that covers nearly the entire canvas of your back, or you can have a medium size to large tattoo
with smaller back tattoos surrounding it, or you can have two side by side tattoos or several medium size tattoos
that work well together. The other idea to keep in mind is that the space on your back isn't just a huge blank
canvas to work on, it's got angles and flowing lines and shapes that can be embellished with tattoo designs that
can either be chosen and placed to accentuate the line of your spine, the shape of your shoulders or the shape of
your lower back.
Getting back tattoos are great opportunities to have either landscape images done on your back or
have large distinctive designs tattooed on your back to create loud, easy to see images to express yourself with.
Your options are endless here but you need to keep in mind that not only will the placement effect how the tattoo
design will be seen but it will also effect how your back will be seen. A lower back tattoo will be seen if you're
wearing short shirts or blouses especially if you wear low cut jeans. Another time it'll tend to show is if you
bend over or if you're wearing an over the shoulder shirt or a bathing suit.
Play with the Surface
Because it's the largest available area on the body for tattooing getting your back tattooed lends
itself so well to variety. You can choose pretty much anything to get as a back tattoo because of the freedom of
having such a large area of space to work with and because you can hide whatever is on your back so easily.
Landscape, conceptual and large graphic patterns are great for back tattoos. Smaller attractive tattoos are
suitable for other parts of the body.
Don't Forget Healing Time
Tattooing isn't as deep as a surgical procedure but it is a bit of an open wound so it's going to
need some healing time. One of the things to consider when you're thinking about getting back tattoos is what's
required at your job, if you need to sit back in a chair all day that's not going to be great for your back or your
tattoo. One option is to have your tattoo done in segments, for example you could get the outline done first, let
it heal then continue on with multiple sessions of getting the colors tattooed in later. This will limit the amount
of pain and bleeding you have to deal with on the job. Your other option would be to get your tattoo done on your
vacation time so the skin on your back has some time to heal instead of having to yo-yo every hour on the hour at
work to and from the bathroom to look after your tattoo.
